SMILE… if you like the thought of a Smaller Footprint

SMILE… by mid-summer you may be able to say you have reduced your carbon footprint by 20-50 percent.

SMILE… and say thank you to city officials and local advocates for thinking GREEN and creating the energy aggregation program that will give 53 communities in 6 counties, thousands of households green renewable power. The Peoria RFP ask for 100% green, renewable energy.

SMILE… because this is HUGE! If you are having trouble getting excited about this, just know that an average American generates about 15,000 pounds (7.5 tons) or more of carbon dioxide every year from personal transportation, home energy use and from the energy used to produce all of the products and services they consume. Depending upon many variables your footprint could be as high as 27 tons, see post on “My Carbon Footprint.”

I SMILED… because my carbon footprint was reduced by 10,000 lbs when using 100% green power. It is a great amount taken off the top. My home is all electric and gives a significant reduction. Every little bit helps, so now is a good time to think about CO2 saved and take action for other carbon saving changes in your home and lifestyle.

There are 100s of ways to do your part… nothing to it but to do it.

Greening The Heartland 2012

The theme BUILDING COMMUNITY indicates our genuine desire to bring people together to share visions and solutions for sustainable communities in which to work, play, learn and live. We will also seek to join business and community leaders with green building professionals and product suppliers to achieve greater understanding of how environmental, economic and social trends of the maturing 21st century will influence our Heartland communities.
